Things to Come...

Just thought I'd share a few pictures of recipes to come:

I've left The Lou behind for a few days to take my annual trip up to Seattle-land - but before too long I'll be back in my home city far away from the cool breezes of the ocean. *sigh*

Hoppy Easter!

I hope everyone had a great Easter. I went to my G'Ma & Pa's house (I don't really call them this but this is how my grandmother has taken to signing her cards in the past couple of years - I think it's cute). I told my grandma not to make a dessert because I was bringing cake.

So, of course, she made a strawberry pie.

Between the cake and the pie, I had enough sugar this weekend to last me for a month of Sundays. But I'll hit the gym for two days and feel better . . . then I'll go on vacation and eat things I shouldn't and the whole vicious circle starts again - and when I get home I'll go back to the gym and back to routine until the next deviation. But I digress . . .

This is my first visual how to - so bare with me.

Easter Bunny Cake

Ingredients:

Cake mix
Water
Oil
Eggs
2 tubs cake icing
2 pipe cleaners
2 green / purple jellybeans
1 red / pink jelly bean

Directions:

1. Bake cake according to directions on the box. Make two 8-inch / 9-inch rounds. Let cool completely before next step.

2. Place one round on the tray you will be using to display your cake. Cut the cake in half:

3. Ice the back side of one half and stick it to the back side of the remaining piece. Stand up on cut edge - position cake where you want it on your tray:

4. Cut a small triangle out of the cake about 2 -3 inches up one side. Reserve the cut wedge:

5. Stick one half of the wedge onto the other side of the cake - giving your bunny a tail:

6. Carefully ice the cake:

7. Normally you can just ice the tail the same color (this works better) but since I was making two bunnies I chose to ice the tail a different color from the body of the cake - this proved to be more effort than it was worth - but Baker's Choice:

8. Place jelly beans on the "face" of the cake giving your bunny eyes and a nose.

9. Bend pipe cleaners in half and shape to look like bunny ears. Insert just behind the top of the head.

10. Happy Easter!!
